Today, in the premises of the Palace of Congress, the demonstration ofvoters’electronic identification device took place.

The Electronic Identification Device (PEI) will be applied to identify voters by using Electronic Identification Devices, installed in every voting center, which will ensure the accurate identification of voters, based on the electronic register stored in the device.

In order to introduce the way this device will operate on the election day, the CEC simulated a voting process in a pilot Voting Center.

The device was tested by tens of voters who were recommended as testers by the political parties. The electronic identification of voters will prevent multiple voting and vote impersonation. The device ensures a clear and uncontestable detection of the above cases. The violators are penally charged.

The voters will present themselves at the voting center with an ID card or biometric passport to be identified by PEI and in addition to the ID, dactyloscopic traces  will remain, that will serve to identify illegal voting.

The event was held in the presence of representatives of political parties, international and local organisations and representatives of the media, who attended the demonstration of the device’ s functionality.
