Central Election Commission is the institution responsible for organization and administration of elections and referenda.

Directs and supervises the activity of the electoral administration, monitors the activity of electoral subjects, state bodies, governmental institutions and the media in relation to the elections.

Resolves administratively the requests or complaints related to the electoral process.

Law no. 101/2020, created a new architecture of election administration with the formation of three governing bodies of the Central Election Commission, which are:

  1. State Election Commissioner;
  2. Regulatory Commission;
  3. Complaints and Sanctions Commission;

The CEC activity, the governing bodies and administration is ruled (guided)  based on the Electoral Code and by-laws, as well as law no. 44/2015 “Code of Administrative Procedures of the Republic of Albania”.
