“Civil society and follow up of election recommendation” – CEC participates in workshop organized by ODIHR

CEC participated in the workshop ” Civil society and follow up of election recommendations” as part of the project ” Support for Election Reform in Western Balkans” , organized by OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights    ( ODIHR) in Warsaw, Poland. 

The workshop brought together representatives of the civil society, election management bodies, election observation teams and international organizations working in the field of elections.

Mr. Ledio Braho and Mr. Elvis Çefa from the Commission of Sanctions and Complaints were the representatives of the CEC who participated in the workshop. 

During the last years, election observation teams and electoral assistance providers have intensified their efforts to promote the meeting of election recommendations issued by international and local organizations of civil society (CSO)  as they have proven to play a key role in supporting the electoral reform and its  follow up in an efficient manner. 

The workshop focused on best practices and lessons learned from the experience of civil society in promotion and monitoring of election reform and in addressing repeated and new challenges to further enhance their role as promoters of democracy.

At the end of discussions, it was concluded on the ways of consolidating the presence and sustainability of civil society organizations’ during the election cycle as the main actors in the election reform and promotion of democracy in the entire Western Balkans.
