Technical workshop “Elections 2025: Enhancing the Secrecy of Voting and Prevention of Voter Intimidation – Challenges and Opportunities”

The Central Elections Commission and the OSCE Presence in Albania host today the technical workshop “Elections 2025: Enhancing the Secrecy of Voting and Prevention of Voter Intimidation – Challenges and Opportunities”. The event’s panel and audience involved Presence’s Ambassador Michel Tarran, Deputy General Director of the State Police, Mr. Sokol Bizhga, Mr. Alexandru Berlinschii, expert from ODIHR, Mrs. Erinda Skëndaj, Executive Director, Albanian Helsinki Committee, Mr. Kristaq Kume, Executive Albanian Institute for Electoral System Development, Mr. Dritan Taulla, Deputy Chair, Coalition for Reforms, Integration, and Consolidated Institutions (KRIIK).

Members from the CEC Regulatory Commission and Commission of Sanctions and Complaints, representatives of institutions and political parties and key international and civil society organizations also attended.

As part of the preparations for the 2025 parliamentary elections and in response to OSCE/ODIHR recommendations, the workshop focused on strengthening procedural safeguards to ensure voting secrecy and prevent voter intimidation. Topics included:

  • Strategies to enhance voting secrecy and protect voter confidentiality.
  • Measures to prevent voter intimidation and ensure a safe voting environment.
  • The role of electoral administration and other key actors in building trust.
  • Empowering voters through education and access to reliable information.

By fostering collaboration and dialogue, the workshop contributed to shaping a robust and inclusive electoral process for Albania’s 2025 elections.
