Today, the Regulatory Commission approved several additions and changes to instruction no. 1, dated 05.12.2020, “Determination of the rules for the establishment, designation and notification of the location of voting centers and the preparation of the map of the local self-government unit for elections”, as amended.
The approved additions and changes consist of limiting the change of the location of voting centers by mayors a few days before the election date, in order to guarantee stability and avoid confusion for voters.
Also, the monitoring mechanism and steps to be followed by the CEC administration in cases where non-fulfillment of the legal criteria for the designation of VCs are evidenced, either primarily or through complaints, as well as finding alternative premises by the administration in problematic cases .
The approved additions and amendments aim to increase legal clarity, ensure a fair process, and improve accessibility and transparency standards for all parties involved in the process.
