With the approaching of election campaign, the CEC urges all the political parties and Mayors to comply with the requirements of Article 79 of the Electoral Code.
The Mayors should exercise in a fair way, within the legal deadline, the legal competence in designating the locations where the election propaganda materials will be posted.
The political parties and electoral subjects should comply with the provisions of the Electoral Code and should not post propaganda materials before the elections.
We would like to draw to the attention of political subjects and local government leading bodies that the Electoral Code requires the posting of propoganda materials in designated public spaces and the electoral offices of political parties, only during the election campaign.
According to the Electoral Code, the election campaign starts 30 days prior to the election date.
The CEC calls for the commitment of all the political actors and civil society, in meeting these legal provisions, in order not to influence on the voters’ freedom to create their own neutral opinion, beyond the time intervals established by the Electoral Code.
