The State Election Commissioner Mr. Ilirjan Celibashi met the Ambassador of Spain Mr. Marcos Alonso Alonso and the Ambassador of Austria Mr. Christian Steiner.
The meeting focused on the work of the CEC for the upcoming elections of April 25, 2021, the implementation of IT project in elections, voting from abroad of the voters whose permanent residence is outside the territory of the Republic of Albania, financing of political parties and other issues. Commissioner Celibashi expressed his confidence that this is going to be a successful election process, a confidence that stems from the close and transparent cooperation of the CEC with all the parties involved in the process, who are seriously committed by offering their opinions and feedback. He stated that this will have a positive impact in the change of public perception about organisation of elections.
Celibashi highlighted that the CEC is intensively working in cooperation with other actors in every aspect of the election process in order to hold free and fair elections based on international standards.
On his part, Ambassador Alonso stated that the roads towards election process is a road full of difficulties and holding a transparent and fair process is a significant achievement for Albania. He highlighted that Spain, as a EU member country, supports Albania’s road of integration.
Ambassador Steiner underlined that Austria, as a country that supports Albania’s membership into EU, supports holding free and fair elections in Albania. He offered support and expertise in conducting successful elections during this situation of pandemic.
