The State Election Commissioner Mr. Ilirjan Celibashi participated in the Annual Youth Forum organized by Westminster Foundation for Democracy and with the support of the British Embassy in Tirana.
The first Annual Youth Forum of Political Parties brought for the first time over 100 young people from the main political parties to discuss the importance of integrity in politics, especially ahead of local government elections of May 14 ,2023.
Commissioner Celibashi spoke of the role young people can play to ensure integrity in elections of May 14, the perspective of young people engaged in political parties, young MPs, diplomats and well known representatives of civil society and media.
” Election integrity is crucial to ensure a strong democracy and to guarantee that political decisions are to the interest of all citizens. An important element of election integrity is participation of young people in politics” – Celibashi stated
Deputy UK Ambassador Mia Marzouk, Westminster Foundation for Democracy Director Sokol Haxhiu, young MPs, youth leaders and well-known representatives from media and civil society , renown figures in different domains, participated and shared their views on the great need for integrity in politics in Albania and the role of young people in appealing for and encouraging for more integrity.
