SEC registers “Albania Becomes” legislative initiative to amend the Electoral Code

The State Election Commissioner reviewed the request of the representative committee of the voters’ legislative initiative from the organization “Albania Becomes”, for the registration of the voters’ legislative initiative “On some additions and amendments to the law no. 10019, dated 29.12.2008 “Electoral Code of the Republic of Albania”.

After assessing that the deposited signatures have been submitted in accordance with the requirements of the law, the Commissioner decided to register the legislative initiative of the voters “On some additions and amendments in the law no. 10019, dated 29.12.2008 “Electoral Code of the Republic of Albania”.

The State Election Commissioner reviewed the results of the verification of the Attorney General, for self-declaring subjects Mr. Ylli Xhafa, member of the Bulqiza Municipal Council, proposed by the “Democratic Party of Albania” and Mr. Mark Nika, candidate for member of the Lezhë Municipal Council, proposed by the “Socialdemocrat Party”, for the elections for local government bodies on May 14, 2023″. The commissioner found that Mr. Xhafa and Mr. Nika are not under the conditions of ineligibility.

 

The results of the verification of the Attorney General, for the self-declaring subject Mr. Marceljo Marra, candidate for member of the Kuçovo Municipality Council, proposed by the “Progressist Alliance Party LZHK”, for the elections for local government bodies on May 14, 2023 and Mr. Boris Shakaj, candidate for deputy Tirana District, proposed by the electoral entity “Hashtag Initiative”, for the elections for the Assembly of Albania on April 25, 2021.

The commissioner decided to declare the administrative procedure as completed without a final decision for the self-declaring subjects Mr. Marra and Mr. Shakaj,

Also, the vacancies created in three municipal councils were filled:

  1. Fier Municipal Council, with the candidate from the multi-name list of the “Socialist Party of Albania”, Mrs. Elida Sopoti”.
  2. Libohova Municipal Council, with the candidate from the multi-name list of the “Together We Win” coalition, Mrs. Fatbardha Karavidha”.
  3. Kuçova Municipal Council, with the candidate from the multi-name list of the “Together We Win” coalition, Mrs. Blerina Amati”.
