The State Election Commissioner, Mr. Ilirjan Celibashi, hosted today at the CEC, the Ambassador of Canada to Albania, Ms. Elissa Golberg, with whom he held a very friendly and informative meeting.
They discussed in detail the preparations for the upcoming electoral process and the important figures of voter registration from abroad.
Ambassador Golberg showed great interest in the voter registration process for Albanians residing in Canada and commended the work of the CEC and the PER (Platform for Voter Registration). As a leading country within the G-7’s Rapid Response Mechanism against cyberattacks and foreign interference, Ambassador Golberg offered Canada’s support in identifying potential risks alongside the protective measures already in place within the PER system.
Additionally, Ms. Golberg expressed interest in the implementation of OSCE/ODIHR recommendations and introduced the CEC to a Canadian government-supported project focused on voter education for first-time voters. I thanked Ambassador Golberg for all her contributions, support, and institutional appreciation.
Ms. Elissa Golberg serves as the Ambassador of Canada to Italy, the Ambassador of Canada to Albania and San Marino, the High Commissioner to Malta, and the Permanent Representative of Canada to the UN Agencies in Rome (IFAD, FAO, WFP).
