The State Election Commissioner, Mr. Ilirjan Celibashi held a meeting today with US Ambassador to Tirana, Mrs. Yuri Kim and the representatives of the Socialist Party of Albania, Mr. Damian Gjiknuri, representative of Democratic Party, Mrs. Jorida Tabaku, Party of Freedom representative Mrs. Monika Kryemadhi and the Republican Party representative Mr. Arian Madhi.

 Ambassador Kim conveyed the US concern regarding the foreign funding in the Albanian politics, in particular the funding coming from Russia.

This is the latest information from the partners, which Ambassador Kim shared with the Albanian political actors in order to increase awareness and do what is within their power, so that the foreign funding does not influence the Albanian politics.  

Celibashi stated that an improvement of the legal framework is needed, in order to have practical instruments to investigate into the amount of funds received by the political parties and the origin of these funds.
