The CEC held a consultative meeting with the finance specialists and legal auditors who audit the funds benefited and spent by the political parties.

The scope of the meeting was the change in the format of the annual financial reporting of the political parties, which will become effective in 2023 and exchange of ideas on potential improvements in the auditing process of political parties.

The CEC presented the changes in the template of annual financial reporting of the political parties which is expected to be approved in 2023 and the responsibility of the legal auditors to prepare a draft report, which they send to the political party that they are auditing and to the CEC.

All the fields in the reporting template were discussed and the questions asked by the finance specialists regarding the way the format would be completed.  During the discussions, the auditors raised the concern of the audit during the calendar year as it is difficult to find the addresses of the political parties, while some parties have also the inactive status. The meeting also focused on digitalization system of the financial reporting of political parties which is being set up by the CEC with the support of the Council of Europe and the way it will operate.
