In today’s session, the Regional Election Commissioner examined the request of the Representative Committee of the Voters’ Legislative Initiative for the registration of the voters’ legislative initiative for some additions and changes to the Electoral Code.

Earlier, the Representative Committee was provided with sample sheets for collecting signatures, which were deposited in the CEC.

At the end of the examination, the Commissioner decided to register the legislative initiative of the voters “On some changes and additions to the law no. 10019, dated 29.12.2008 “Electoral Code of the Republic of Albania”, amended”.

Also, the Commissioner decided to fill the vacancies in:

1. Elbasan municipality council, with the candidate from the multi-name list of the Socialist Party of Albania, Mrs. Areta Mehmet Kumria;
2. Devoll municipality council, with the candidate from the multi-name list of the Green Party, Mr. Kevin Agron Baci;
3. Fier municipality council, with the candidate from the multi-name list of the Social Democracy Party, Mrs. Rezarta Gëzim Duro.

As for the issues raised in the previous session, the Commissioner decided to approve the guidelines for determining the criteria for the selection of election monitors and their appointment process.

The decision-making on the report of the findings from the audit of the funds received and spent by the political parties participating in the elections for the Assembly of Albania, dated April 25, 2021, was postponed by the Commissioner after the presentation of some additional findings by KRIIK.

The commissioner decided that KRIIK’s findings should be forwarded to the political parties to provide explanations. The request of the Democratic Party of Albania to postpone the session for objective reasons of its representative in the CEC was accepted.
