Today, the Guideline “On the processing of personal data in the context of the election campaign” was presented by the Commissioner for the Right to Information and Protection of Personal Data, Mr. Besnik Dervishi.

My message to representatives of political parties, institutions, media, and civil society organizations is that political parties and electoral subjects in the campaign will abide by the terms of this guideline because no one owns the personal data of voters, and this data belongs to them alone, not to any political party.

The CEC of Albania will provide the Guideline to each CEZ and polling station commission in order to better ensure the security of personal data of persons voting in the Local Elections on May 14, 2023.

The document presented today aims to guide electoral subjects on how to guarantee the protection of voters’ personal data during the election campaign period.
