The Central Elections Commission conducted today the operational test of electronic voters identification devices (PEI) that will be used in local government by elections on September 24,2023.
In order to identify the voters, the Electronic System of Voters’ Identification will be used and Electronic Identification Devices, installed in 74 voting centers, which will enable the accurate identification of the voters, based on the electronic register stored in the device.
3 per cent of devices were randomly selected to test the compliance with the device functions.
Simulation of the process in this operational test checks these elements: whether a voter belongs to that voting center, of a voters attempts to vote more than once, or whether a voter is in the wrong voting center and the special circumstances related to the commissioners or voters who are present in the VC with a court decision.
The process of electronic identification has the same principles of identification as the manual process.
On Election Day, the Voter will go to the voting center with an ID or biometric passport, to be identified through PEI device. In addition to the ID, he will also leave dactyloscopic traces (finger prints) which will serve to identify cases of illegal voting.
