The Central Election Commission has completed the process of post verification of ballot papers and election working documentation for the elections for local government bodies.
Pursuant to the Electoral Code and decision no. 800, dated 20.10.2023 of the State Election Commissioner, 10% of the voting centers for the elections of May 14, 2023, were subject to post-election verification.
The CEC verified the method of evaluation of the ballot papers by the Counting Teams and the method of completing the election working documentation by the III-level commissions for 526 Voting Centers. Forty (40) Voting Centers were from the municipalities of Vorë, Kamëz, Elbasan where electronic voting and counting was implemented. Post verification of the ballot papers and reports printed by PEVN (Electronic Voting and Counting Device) proved to be 100% consistent with the results broadcasted on May 14, 2023. 10% of the voting centers (7VC) for the partial elections for the Mayor of Kuka on September 24, 2023, were also subject to post-election verification.
The purpose of this process is to verify the regularity and accuracy of the activity of the election administration during the administration of the process and the evaluation of the counting of votes.
The post-election verification process was a public process and was monitored closely by civil society and the media.
The results of the post-election verification were published in real time on the “Verifikimi pazgjedhor 2023” interface.
