The State Election Commissioner, Mr. Ilirjan Celibashi welcomed the Ambassador of the United Kingdom (British Embassy Tirana), Mr. Alastair King-Smith, to the Central Election Commission of Albania for final discussion before the conclusion of his mission in Albania.

It was discussed about the British Government’s efforts to strengthen democracy and independent institutions in Albania and the region, and shared views on the recent legislative changes in the Electoral Code that enable voting for the Albanians abroad and address the decisions of the Constitutional Court.

Ambassador King-Smith assured continued multifaceted support for the CEC and the strengthening of the institution’s coordinating role in investigating electoral crimes and intensifying the supervision of the financing of electoral subjects and campaigns.

Commissioner Celibashi expressed gratitude to Ambassador King-Smith for his role as a true friend and champion of supporting the CEC and democratic developments in Albania.
