Partial elections for Mayor of Himara Municipality, dated August 4, 2024

On Sunday, August 4, 2024, the citizens of Himara Municipality exercised their right to vote to elect the mayor.

36 Voting centers were opened at 7:00 in the morning according to the procedures defined by the Electoral Code and the identification of voters was done through the electronic identification device (EID).

The voting process was conducted smoothly and there were no problems that affected the integrity of the electoral process.

At 19:00, the voting schedule for the partial elections for the Mayor of Himara ended. Voting centers were closed throughout the territory of the municipality.

The voting process in 36 VCs continued smoothly while the voters were identified electronically, and the PEI system was quite successful.

The CEC dynamically followed the progress of the process, intervening in cases where assistance was requested by the Commissioners of the Voting Centers.

From the preliminary information and reporting of 36 voting centers, in the elections for Mayor of Himara Municipality on August 4, 2024, 8,678 voters voted, or 37.61% of the total of 23,074 voters on the list.

The VC commissions distributed the ballot boxes and election working materials, together with the electronic identification devices (EI) and the monitoring cameras of the VC, to CEAZ no. 88.

CEAZ did not find any irregular ballot boxes.

After the delivery of election working materials from 36 VCC to CEAZ, the Central Election Commission retrained the members of the counting teams.

8 counting teams were trained in total, out of which 4 BCT-s were the first counting teams and the other 4 were the second counting teams.

4 counting tables were placed in the Ballot Counting Centers, in which the monitoring/recording cameras of the ballots were installed during the ballot evaluation process.

The ballot counting process started at 00:37 on Monday, dated 08/05/2024.

The process of counting and evaluation of ballot papers took place uninterruptedly, calmly and without any incident, observed by civil society, observers of political party representatives and the media.

The process was monitored by the CEC technical staff and the preliminary results were broadcast in real time on the CEC official website and the CEC App.

The counting process was closed at 06:39 on Monday.

Preliminary results for the 36 voting centers:

  1. The candidate proposed by the electoral subject “Socialist Party of Albania”, Mr. Vangjel Tavo received 5022 votes (58.62%).
  2. The candidate proposed by the electoral subject, the “Together We Win” coalition, Mr. Petraq Gjikuria received 3545 votes (41.38%).
