The Central Election Commission held its next meeting with Roma and Egyptian minorities in Shkoder.

The meeting was held in the framework of the joint project with the British embassy in Albania on information/awareness/education of Roma minority for local government elections of May 14,2023 elections. 

The meeting with representatives of Roma and Egyptian community opened with the importance of the right to vote and the value of vote. 

The representatives of the CEC highlighted the importance of the verification of the name in the list and steps to be taken in case inaccuracies in the names are found. In addition through the simulation of the voting process, the participants were introduced to the specimens of ballot papers and the way the ballot papers are marked.

The representatives of organizations “Voice of Roma in Albania” and “The Institute of Roma Culture in Albania”, as partners in this project, underlined the importance of refusal of vote buying and the importance of participation in elections so that their voice is heard.
