Regulatory Commission adopts establishment of 92 EAZs.

The Regulatory Commission reviewed today the draft decision “On the establishment of Electoral Administration Zones, for April 25, 2021 parliamentary elections”.

The Electoral Administration Zones are approved by the CEC no later than 9 months before the end of the Parliament’s mandate, based on the number of citizens eligible to vote on the last date of the election period, according to the data of the General Directorate of Civil Status (GDCS).

Referring to the information received from GDCS on the number of citizens eligible to vote and the criteria for setting up EAZs, the need arose to change the Electoral Administration Zones, as the number of citizens eligible to vote in EAZ no. 58 of Fieri Municipality and in EAZ no. 64 of the Municipality of Berat, exceeds the limit set by the Electoral Code

The Regulatory Commission unanimously approved the establishment of 92 (ninety-two) Electoral Administration Zones for April 25, 2021 parliamentary elections.

The numbering of EAZs will be done through a two-digit number, which starts with 01, ensuring compatibility of the unique national system of numbering of voting centers, with EAZ numbering, according to which EAZ no. 01 should correspond to the voting centers with inital numbering, and so on.

For the parliamentary elections of April 25, 2021, one (1) EAZ will be established in 50 municipalities with less than 80 thousand citizens, eligible to vote, while in 11 municipalities with more than 80 thousand citizens eligible to vote more than one (1) EAZ will be established.
